Avocado toast (AT) is good. Oh so trendy, but good.
Anne over at fANNEtastic Food mentioned AT so many times over the course of a few recent weeks that she got in my head.I was determined to get my hands on an avocado and put this to the test.
How good could this “avocado toast” really be?
It doesn’t sound all that great and it is just green stuff on toast after all. But I do like avocados and I do like toast…
- 1 slice of bread, any variety
- ½ small avocado
- salt (optional)
- Toast bread.
- Smear avocado over said toast.
- Add a sprinkle of salt.
You can top it with a fried egg, bacon, anything really. I like it plain and simple.
When I bite into avocado toast, I’m reminded of the indulgence of a generous layer of cream cheese on a bagel or the satisfying richness of a thick pat of room-temp butter on a roll. It’s fatty, creamy and it feels absolutely sinful.
The guilt is fleeting because, oh yeah, this green stuff is good for you.
If you’ve never tried AT and are holding out because you’re skeptical and hesitant to waste a good avocado on a mere piece of bread, give it a shot and let me know what you think in the comments.
And, behold the Avocado Rose
I’m a little late to the party on this one, but if you haven’t seen this fun way of presenting avocado, check out the pics below to take your AT to the next level.
You think it’s mushed up avocado piped through a fancy pastry bag?
Quick how-to video (warning – loud music):
Instagrammers are sharing some beautiful avocado roses, and some are even using the method with other fruits and veggies. Pretty darn neat. View more #avocadorose.
